In the spring of this year Nike will take over the contract for the WNBA and you can full on expect a serious marketing campaign which will not only improve viewership of the WNBA, but see the creation of some signature releases for WNBA ballers. Elena Delle Donne already has a PE Nike Hyperdunk, but I expect  things to get even better. Why do I feel this way?

This pack that celebrates the 91 straight wins by the Women’s UCONN Huskies might be one of the dopest sneaker packs I’ve ever seen. This type of support of the program is expected, and it shows that Nike is not taking the women’s game for granted. (Yes, this pack does carry that much weight. It’s my opinion, roll with it.) How can I say that one pack and one PE for Donne shows progress? Because with all of the accomplishments that Pat Summitt had at Tennessee, the school is an adidas sponsored program, when Coach Pat died Adidas didn’t do shit to celebrate her legacy. When Candace Parker won the WNBA Championship this year, Adidas didn’t capitalize on her being a Summitt player and a champion at all.

Here we have a collegiate program, a women’s program that is being celebrated by their sponsor in one of the dopest deliveries of the last ten years. To me that means a lot.

The only thing that would have made this amazing is if Nike actually had a women’s signature (not PE) athlete who played at UCONN as the shoe chosen for the package. Get on that Nike, get on that.
