Notice that TRY in the title? Typically when I write a Should You Buy To Flip? it’s about a model that is a general release which has the potential to become a great shoe for resellers. Lately the series has taken a hit as the only shoes that are GRs which typically pop in resale are adidas BOOST products: NMD, UltraBOOST, EQT 93-17. This shoe will be hard to get.
I’ve refrained from writing the series because I’ve had some people who get really upset and write to me, “F–k flippers and resellers. You’re giving them valuable info and it’s going to make the shoe harder to get.” I wish these comments were posted in the comment section below, but the people who e-mail are probably flipping shoes themselves and don’t want me giving away any pointers are advice.
This release of the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 is an obvious SYBTF? The shoe is going to be seriously limited and as of right now the resell value on the OG on various platforms is,
StockX – Between 700-2000.00 Most of the active bids are at 700 or 800.
eBay – Sold Listings are between 900-1200.00 with sales as recent as yesterday 8/16/2017
Flight Club – The price is 1,250 – 4000.00
This clearly shows that an article on the latest release is expected, but I have a funny feeling about this release. I think right now so many people have bought and resold the first three models that in order for people to get their money back they have to keep the shoe at a high price. I also think that the market right now isn’t exactly suited towards Nike restocking these in a bigger fashion, or am I wrong?
The shoe will release as follows:
The Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 in Black/White-Blue Lagoon, and a new colorway, Black/White-Red Lagoon, will launch globally over the next few months.
The HyperAdapt 1.0 will release via Nike SNKRS in the following countries: North America, Japan and China; and Nike App in the following cities: London, Berlin, Milan and Paris.
Select Nike retail stores will also carry the HyperAdapt 1.0 at the following locations:
Japan on September 23 at Nike Harajuku, NIKELAB MA5 and DSM Ginza
China on September 17 at Nike Huaihai Brand Experience Store, Nike Ghangzhou Brand Experience Store, EC Mall Nike and Jordan Basketball Experience Store, NIKELAB X158 Shanghai, and NIKELAB DSM PEK
London on September 29 at Niketown London
Berlin on October 5 at Nike BE Berlin
Milan on October 5 at NIKELAB ST18

This is a bigger release than the previous models and the North American release hasn’t been delivered. Obviously there will be a resale value, but let’s do a reality check.
The Nike HyperAdapt cost 720.00 retail.
The average price of the shoe in resale, based strictly on eBay:
August 16th 2017 – 910.00
August 16th 2017 – 820.00
August 15th 2017 – 1050.00
August 15th 2017 – 840.00
August 15th 2017 – 1001.99
Total: 4621.99/5 = 924.40
The rating system: Tier 1: 0-25% = +1 Tier 2: 26-55% = +2 Tier 3: 56% and up is +3
If the shoe has been bought and resold several times the actual price of the shoe could be higher than 720, but let’s consider there is tax at the Memphis rate of 9.25%
720.00 + 85.51 = 805.51
If you are into this shoe at retail + eBay fees of 13% (12.75%) on a shoe sold at 924.40 with free shipping (signature for your protection) at an additional 18.00. What is the reality?
eBay/Paypal fees on 924.40 = 120.17 + 18.00 dollars shipping = 138.17
Your true price for the shoe becomes 805.51 + 138.17 = 943.68
Should You Buy To Flip?
Profit: Average Price 924.40 – 943.68 = -19.28
Negative. If you made it this far I am willing to bet you’re surprised. This is not a good shoe to flip… especially in the current market. Even in the best case scenario of a 1000 dollars, it’s still a Tier 1 shoe.
